The professional community for those called to serve the church.

Do any other Children's Pastor s feel that so much of their time is spent trying to find volunteers to help and teach in the nursery or pre-school classes? Does any one have any secrets to effective recruiting of volunteers? What has worked for you in the past? I would love to hear some creative things that you have done to find volunteers. Thanks!

This isn't anything you don't already know but you certainly are not alone in this frustration!

Recognizing these workers goes along way (Mark Twain said he could go a whole month on one compliment alone).
Rotating these volunteers really helps them and pairing them up with partners they like.
Requiring parents to take their turn on a monthly/bi-monthly basis is perfectly acceptable.
Replenishing servants as they are faithful with staff mtgs that are fun and allow them to give input.

Vic,
Thanks for your reply. I am thankful that the Lord has helped us to do these things but it is always good to hear that we are doing the right thing from someone else. God bless you in a mighty way!
